There is a bug in the current releases of GPSPhotoLinker (1.6.4) and PhotoLinker (2.0.5) that causes the file creation date to changed. However, the original date & time is not modified. The original date & time is the date reflecting the content of the image (e.g. "when was that photo taken"), although with some digital cameras the file creation date is approximately the same as the original date & time for the obvious reason that the file gets created at nearly the same instant the photo is taken.
So, yes, this is a bug and will be fixed in the next release, but fortunately no metadata is actually lost. I have added a feature to the next versions of PhotoLinker and GPSPhotoLinker that allows you to set the creation date to date & time original tag, so this will let you clean things back up if you'd like.
